RECITAL TICKETS

Recital tickets will go on sale online on June 1 at 10am. Tickets are $12 each and required for all audience members, regardless of age.

Pre-K & Beginner dancers are only in one show, all other dancers are in both shows; show rosters are posted to ensure you purchase tickets for the correct show. There are no refunds on tickets.

Tickets will not be sold at the door, they must be purchased online prior to the show.

Use the Recital facebook event to invite friends and family to support your dancer at the show.

Dance classes will run as scheduled at the studio through tuesday, June 11.

MINI REHEARSAL, JUNE 12

Location: Joy School of Dance, Studio A

Dancers will enter and exit through the Dinsmore Ave door (upstairs).

  • Pre-K, 3:00-4:00pm

  • Beginner, 4:00-5:00pm

  • Intermediate, 5:00-6:00pm

  • Junior, 6:00-6:45pm

  • Jr Advanced, 6:45-7:30pm

  • Advanced & Elite Company, TBD

It is very important for every student to attend this rehearsal. Working in a full class in a space the size of the KO high school stage will really help to prepare them for Dress Rehearsal and the Recital.

  • All students must attend.

  • Wear dance attire not costumes.

  • Bring your dance bag and dance shoes.

  • This is a closed rehearsal, dancers and staff only.


DRESS REHEARSAL, JUNE 14

Location: Keystone Oaks High School Auditorium (Enter at Door B-17)

In an effort to get everyone in and out as quickly as possible, the dress rehearsal will be scheduled by class; we will not run the show in order. The block schedule below will allow you to plan in advance for the day.

  • Pre-K, 11:30-1:30pm

  • Beginner, 11:30-2:30pm

  • Intermediate, 1:00-4:30pm

  • Junior, 1:45-5:15pm

  • Jr Advanced, 2:00-7:00pm

  • Advanced & Elite Company, 1:30-7:00pm

A Detailed DRESS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE WILL BE RELEASED IN early june.

Dress Rehearsal Reminders-

  • All students must attend

  • Bring all costumes, dance shoes and batons

  • All shoes, costumes, water bottles, etc should be labeled with the dancer’s name

  • Arrive at least 30-minutes prior to your scheduled time

  • Younger dancers must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone

  • Dancers are limited to 2 adults max at dress rehearsal. Please do not bring siblings that aren’t in the show

  • Cameras are welcome, this is the perfect photo op

  • Food, drinks and gum are not permitted in the auditorium

  • Smoking is not permitted on school property

  • No roaming the halls; please stay in the auditorium area

  • Make a checklist and use it; take home everything you brought with you

    • After they rehearse, we will hold onto the dance shoes and accessories for all Pre-K, Beginner and Intermediate dancers plus all batons.


Recital Day-of Info

Arrival Times

Students should be signed in by a parent no later than forty-five minutes before the show starts. For the 2:00pm show, dancers must arrive before 1:15pm and for the 7:30pm show, dancers must arrive before 6:45pm

Dancer Check-In

One "backstage" pass will be issued to a parent/guardian for each preschool and beginner students for use after the show.

Parents will not have access to the backstage area.  Dancers will not be allowed to leave the backstage areaOur staff will not allow any dancer to leave the recital until AFTER the show is over.  This is to ensure your child’s safety.  Dancers will remain under the supervision of Joy School staff from when they are checked in prior to the show starting until they are checked out at the conclusion of the show. 

Recital Packing List for Dancers

  • All Dance Shoes

    • Remember- We hold onto the dance shoes and accessories for all Pre-K, Beginner and Intermediate dancers plus all batons at dress rehearsal, so these items are already backstage.

  • All Costume Pieces

  • Baton (if applicable)

  • Water Bottle (or 2)

All shoes, costumes, water bottles, etc should be labeled with the dancer’s name.

 

What Dancers Should Wear to the Show

  • Nude tights

  • Your first costume with your recital t-shirt over it

  • Slip-on sandals (Crocs, Slides, etc)

  • Dancers should wear their hair away from their faces allowing for headpieces to be pinned on

  • If you choose to wear make-up, a light application of blush, eye shadow & lipstick is suggested.  Makeup should be applied at home

 

What Dancers Should Not Wear

  • Jewelry

  • Bright Colored Nail Polish

  • Underwear

    • Dancers will wear their tights under every costume. No underwear should be worn under tights or costumes.  If a dancer needs to wear a bra, make sure it is nude and that the straps cannot be seen when wearing the costume.

Dancer Pick-up

Pre-K and Beginner dancers will remain in their classroom backstage after the curtain call and can be picked up by a parent or guardian with their “backstage pass” from there.  To help make dismissal as efficient as possible, only one adult should go backstage to pick-up your dancer. 

 

Reminders for Audience Members

  • Remember to silence cell phones and electronic devices. Please refrain from using these devices during the performance.

  • Photography and videos inside the auditorium are prohibited. You are welcome to take photos in the lobby prior to curtain time and at the conclusion of the show.

  • Please refrain from walking around during dances. It is distracting to the dancers on stage and others in the audience. If you need to exit or enter the audience during the show, please do so between dances – not during.

  • Please be respectful of all the dancers. Show your appreciation with generous applause, the kids have worked very hard and deserve it.

  • Above all, sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
